The Team Behind It All
Dorset Art is a small team of volunteers with an extensive range of knowledge and experience in business and the arts.
Philip Dakers - Founder
Philip retired to Dorset in 2020, from the hustle and bustle of London. He is responsible for the overall management, development and forward planning of the organization. Currently building relationships/partnerships with sponsors in art and non-art sectors. In his free time, Philip is an avid art collector and believes viewing art boosts his happiness and reduces his stress. Philip enjoys walking the Jurassic Coast, fine dining, cooking, playing bowls and watching Tennis.
Edward Matthews - Fundraiser
Ed has a deep love of Art within Dorset from childhood memories. Although his career has taken him to London, he spends most weekends at his home in Dorset. Ed is an integral part of the team and is using his skills to source funding streams. In his spare time Ed likes to visit exhibitions and chat with the creators behind the work. He also enjoys kayaking, drawing, family time and annoying his children.
Sarah Day - Administrator
Sarah has built a career advising visual arts events. She has a proven record of helping individuals or businesses plan, curate and execute events. Sarah has worked with many galleries and arts organisations all over Europe. She enjoys walking through the Dorset countryside, photography, and Horse Riding.
Alexandre Moulin - Arts Advocate
Alex is originally from Ramatuelle. He now splits his time between France and Dorset. Alex is committed to giving Dorset Artists and makers more opportunities. He believes speaking up is important and is a voice to be heard. Alex has a love for fine wine, and takes great joy from painting, exploring different colours with different lights.
Abigail Winters - Artist
Abi is an early career artist, currently exploring sculpture and photography. After many years living and working in galleries in Somerset she is now settled in Dorset. She loves to travel but due to having two young children hasn't managed it for a few years. Abi is most happiest when she has her camera in hand and walking boots on.
Finley Brown - Artist
Finn grew up in Dorset then moved to Somerset as an apprentice potter. Over the past 20 years he has participated in Open Studios events in Somerset, Dorset and Cambridge. Finn retired back to Dorset in 2023 due to ill health. After visiting open studios in 2024 and talking to artists he could see how much support was missing for Dorset artists. He is committed to bringing the hidden talent out so members of the public can appreciate their work.
