About Us

Dorset is thriving creativity.

Many of these people live and practice in a rural area.

Dorset Art has been formed to support and help grow the amazing talent Dorset has to offer.

Discover Our Story

Since retiring and moving to Dorset 4 years ago I have had the greatest experiences visiting some of the best art in the country.

A recurring phrase I repeatedly heard seemed to be, 'Dorset lacks artist interaction and an affordable county wide event'

From this, over the last 18 months, I have spent a lot of time researching all areas of Dorset, spoken to a lot of artists and makers and built a comprehensive list of what is missing. From this I could see that repeated phrase had meaning.

Yes, there is other organizations, which do great work in there own right. But they are either localised or not cost effective.

That got me thinking, I am now retired, I love visual art, I have plenty of time on my hands.

I have proceeded to bring together an exceptional team of volunteers who have a broad range of individual artistic and business skills.

After much discussion Dorset Art is here.

I look forward to working with and watching Dorset's amazing creatives grow.

Dorset Art consists of 3 parts as we know not everything is for everyone.
